Prince Harry and Meghan Markle purchase the rights to a popular book that is similar to their lives for a Netflix movie.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have bought the screen rights to a well-liked love novel to enter the world of movie production.

The UK’s The Sun reports that Harry and Meghan plan to direct a movie based on a book written by a Canadian author. There are definite parallels between the plot and their personal experiences.

This action represents a change from their prior involvement in producing films and publications. The business deal, which is said to be worth $100 million, is a component of their arrangement with Netflix.

This year’s chosen book, “Meet Me at the Lake” by Carley Fortune, was published in May. The plot revolves around a couple who met in their thirties and addresses postpartum depression, challenges with mental health, and aspects of childhood trauma, such as the death of a parent in a car accident.

The novel’s setting is not far from Toronto, where Meghan lived while working on the television program “Suits” and starting her romance with Harry.

However, the film’s production will run into the same problems as other Hollywood directors do. Currently, both performers and authors are on strike.

According to an unidentified source reported by The Sun, “The couple found the themes compelling, leading to its selection as their inaugural adaptation with Netflix.” According to the publication, the couple’s production firm may have paid roughly $3.8 million for the rights to the book, which enjoyed two weeks on the New York Times top ten list and sold 37,000 copies in its first week.

The novel’s publisher, Penguin Random House, also published Harry’s autobiography, “Spare.” The second book by Fortune is called “Meet Me at the Lake.”
