Man arrested after the Skelmanthorpe car explosion

A Skelmanthorpe car explosion at a housing complex that is still under construction led to the arrest of a man. The location of this was Jacquard Road in Skelmanthorpe, which is off Cumberworth Road.

Before 12 o’clock today, West Yorkshire Police were summoned to the scene of an explosion that destroyed an empty parked car.

Prior to the explosion, it was said that a suspect was in the automobile.

In case there were any suspicious items in the car, the officers sped over to the spot and called for their specialized coworkers from related agencies to join them.

In order to conduct an evaluation, a cordon was established, and a small number of surrounding homeowners were ordered to temporarily vacate their homes.

Road closures were reduced when the site was made safe later on Monday afternoon.

As the investigation proceeds, police have now detained a guy in connection with the event.

Kirklees Police Superintendent Helen Brear stated: “Police-led investigations into this situation are ongoing, and I want to thank the locals for their patience and understanding while this operation was conducted.

We also regret any inconvenience it may have caused.

A man who was arrested will be questioned in connection with our ongoing investigation.

It is understandable that the deployment of specialized resources may have given rise to some anxiety, but it is perfectly typical for them to show up at a location in such circumstances to take every measure to protect public safety.
