A man and his five-year-old son were found dead in a residence in Leicester.

In a Leicester home, a five-year-old child and a 41-year-old man were discovered dead.

After police were contacted around 9 o’clock on Monday night, the remains were discovered at a residence in Hopyard Close.

The air ambulance and the East Midlands Ambulance Service also responded; however, both patients were pronounced dead on the spot.

Police said they are conducting an investigation but aren’t yet searching for another person related to the fatalities.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit serious crime squad, “detectives are attempting to determine what happened inside the address last night. This is in response to the devastating news that a child and a man have died.

“I recognize that this occurrence may prompt a lot of inquiries, but our inquiry is still in its very early phases.

“I’m here to tell everyone that there is no danger to the general public, and as of right now, we don’t think anyone else was engaged in the incident.

Officers are offering support to the two deceased’s families during this extremely trying period.
